Post-Christmas Toy Review (20-24 month old)

Hi, friends!  Things have been busy busy lately around here and it’s not slowing down anytime soon!  I definitely had the burst of energy that many pregnant women get in the second trimester and now I am starting to slow down!  I’m often torn between going to bed or staying up and trying to get just a few more things done… sleep wins lately.  🙂

Last Christmas, I did a highlight on Carter’s favorite toys he received and wanted to do the same again this year. This Christmas, Carter was 20 months old and really into checking out each and every item.  There have been some toys that he’s come back to over and over so far so I am going to focus on those.

Amazon Fire 7 Tablet – hands on, a clear favorite.  Ironically, this was the gift we received during our annual Christmas party we host and have a fun White Elephant game with all the guests.  Anything related to a phone, iPad or tablet and Carter is all over it.  He LOVES YouTube probably a little too much and doesn’t care if the content is recent or 30 years old.  Guided Access on iPhones/iPads is a lifesaver and if you have a little one and don’t know what that is… immediately go google and thank me later!  To protect the Amazon Fire tablet, we ordered the Fintie Shock Proof Case.

Orbrium Toys Triple-Loop Wooden Train – this is a hit with every little kid I’ve ever been around.  There’s so many options with the train cars and track pieces they stay entertained for hours.

Fisher-Price Harley-Davidson Tough Trike – Carter’s still a little short to be able to pedal the trike but that doesn’t stop him from “driving” it all over the house!  We are fortunate to have enough space indoors to let him have some ride on toys indoors and this and his Cozy Coupe from his birthday are favorites.

Melissa & Doug Disney Baby Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Wooden Stacker Toy – I love anything that works a little one’s brain so this stacker toy was right up my alley!  Carter has enjoyed stacking and re-stacking the towers and coming up with different ways of doing so.  Plus, who doesn’t like Winnie the Pooh and Tigger??

Poke-A-Dot Books – My in-laws had some of these books at their house and Carter LOVED them.  I actually ordered one after we got back from Christmas to give him with his Valentine’s gifts and he has loved popping the bubbles again and again on each page.  Plus, they help with counting so they’re learning a little as they pop away!

Baby Bath Toy-Spin N Sort Spout Pro-Three Stackable Cups, Automated Spout and Spinning Suction Cup Gears – well, that’s a mouthful and a bath tub FULL of fun!  Carter received this as a gift before Christmas and loved it so much I knew I needed to order one for my nephew that’s a few months older than Carter.  Carter plays with this EVERY bath time and has eliminated the nightly battle of always wanting to have the faucet running!  Now, he’s totally content to turn on “his” faucet and it just recycles the water.

Step 2 Grand Luxe Kitchen – I thought Carter would really enjoy a play kitchen so I searched and searched online for the “perfect” one.  Since I was expecting baby #2 and didn’t know the gender, I kept that in my mind as well.  I thought if we were having another boy maybe I wouldn’t go over the top and get a more simple kitchen but once I found out it was a girl, I knew I should go with my gut and get the one I had my eye one!  It was important to me that the set be tall enough for Carter and his sibling to grow with and I also really wanted a “full size” fridge – mainly for storage!  Storage was another key thing I was looking for and this kitchen has plenty.  I also scored an amazing deal Thanksgiving week and was happy with that.  This set comes with a lot of pretend food and dishes so the kitchen is very well stocked from the get go.  It also wasn’t too terrible to put together.  Adam and I assembled it the night before he received it in a few hours.

Well, that’s all for me tonight.  I have lots more to share just have to find the time to get it shared!  Come back soon 🙂
