Laundry Reboot

Sometimes I often wonder how 3 people can create so much laundry!  I try to get all the laundry done in one day (with the exception of linens and I do that 2-3 times a week) and every week find that I am making countless trips from one side of the house to the other with said laundry.  Our to-be-washed laundry currently resides in my master closet (Carter’s is in his room) and I’ve literally had these 2 hampers since my freshman year of college… 13 years ago!  They have served me well and got the job done but it was time for a laundry overhaul.

I had one of those “light bulb” moments and knew I had to purchase a rolling laundry cart!  And not just any cart.. I wanted 3 hanging baskets, a shelf on top and a hanging bar.  Also, it had to be sturdy and not much wider than our current 2 hampers.  So after some google searching, review reading and contemplation, I selected this one from Wayfair.  There was some assembly required and the directions were TERRIBLE but my engineer of a husband was able to figure it out. 🙂

It’s a few inches wider than the two hampers I did have in the same spot in my closet but the wheels make it super easy to glide out of the way if needed.  I LOVE having the shelf on top to put our linens (once they’ve air dried in the bathroom) to keep the master bath from getting cluttered up with used towels and wash cloths.  Another thing I’m loving?  The hanging bar!  I use it to collect all the hangers from the week from both our closets and then they’re already to go as the laundry comes out of the dryer!!  Game changer!  I was making several trips back to the closets each week just to collect hangers – time saving tips and tricks for the win.

These are by no means “pretty pictures” but just to give you an idea of the cart in action…

My little helper!

He made it all the way across the house on his own with the cart – how soon can he start doing the laundry, too?!

It was SO nice to have all the laundry and hangers in the laundry room at once – THEN, as the items came out of the dryer, I could hang them on the hanging bar on the cart (instead of the laundry room cluttering up the space) and I stacked the folded clothes and linens on the top shelf and wheeled everything back to the bedroom to put away in ONE trip!

This one purchase has seriously changed my laundry game for the better – it’s funny how one idea can simplify a dreaded chore and save time in the process!
