Empties – Beauty Product Reviews

Since we moved to our house last March, I have been slowly working through my massive beauty stash and trying to narrow down products.  Somehow, I’ve ended up with way too many bottles of lotion, shower gel, make up back ups, etc.!  I’ve really cracked down on myself on not making any beauty purchases until I use a lot of these products up.  That being said, there are some tried and true favorites that I want to remember when I allow the “beauty freeze” to be lifted.  Starting around January, I decided to keep my “empties” so I could make note of what I liked, don’t like and to share some reviews of various products. I accumulated quite a stash of empties during the last 5 months – let’s get started!

Shower Gels:
Scentsy Honeymoon Hideaway – would repurchase, has a nice clean scent and isn’t too heavy

Bath & Body Works Beautiful Day Travel and Full Size – would repurchase, this is one of my favorite fragrances but I know they’ve changed the formula and now it’s blue instead of green so I’d have to see if I still like it as much

Bath & Body Works Fresh Sparking Snow – would repurchase, this is a great scent for winter, I was sad when this ran out

Bath & Body Works Mango Tango Twist – would repurchase, I LOVE this scent but I’ve not seen it available again – I think I bought this at least 2 years ago

Lotions:
Bath & Body Works Mango Tango Twist

Bath & Body Works Fresh Sparkling Snow

Misc. Products:
Scentsy Layers Bath Tablets in Linger – I really like these in place of bath bombs – they don’t leave as much mess and dissolve pretty quickly but the scent lingers for a while in the bath water
Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar – have repurchased several times over the last 2-3 years and I love this face moisturizer!  The fragrance is subtle and cream isn’t too thick but enough to get a good base for foundation.  I think my face looks “fresher” since using this product, too
Body Merry Stretch Marks & Scars – this is the second one of these I’ve used up – it’s a little pricey for what it is but it was worth it in my opinion.  I put this on the lingering stretch marks around my belly button from my pregnancy and also my C-section scar.  The stretch marks faded completely and the scar has drastically faded.

Make Up Removers:
Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 Cleanser – I don’t even know how many bottles of this cleanser I’ve been through since starting to use it 5-6 years ago.  I use it to remove my make up each night and find that it removes 99% of my foundation/blush/etc.  I don’t use it on my eye make up.
Neutogrena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover – as you can see, this is a clear favorite.  For years, I used the similar product made my Clinique and decided to give this brand a try.  I find the results to be very similar but with a much less price point.  This easily takes off my waterproof mascara and eyeliner.
I also have used up quite a few packs of the Neutogrena Remover Wipes just didn’t save those packages.  I like those but only for travel.  I find they get off about 80% of my make up but then have to follow up with a cleanser to get the remaining make up off.

Make Up:
Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation – I’ve been using Laura Mercier products since our wedding, 4 years ago.  I also get a lot of compliments on my foundation from random people so it must be doing it’s job!  This is a full coverage, long lasting foundation.  I either apply with a foundation brush or my fingers, depending on mood, and either method, a little bit of foundation goes a long way.  I do think it stays on a little longer/more even when I apply with a foundation brush.
Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer – I am a believer in a good lash primer and this is a new favorite.  You can see I used it so much the label came off (it’s the white tube at the top of the picture)
Too Faced Better than Sex Full Size and Travel Size Mascara – this is my favorite mascara.  I will be repurchasing soon!  I’ve been making myself use up the other mascaras I had on hand and can’t wait to get this one back in my everyday routine.
Clinique High Impact Mascara – this use to be a favorite until I tried others, I really only used it now because I had it on hand and needed to before it dried up
Lancome Cils Booster XL – another product I used just because I had it – I prefer the Tarte Lash Primer over this one
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion – one of my tried and true products over the last 4-5 years.  I will never wear eye shadow without this as a base again!  It enhances the pigment in the shadow and keeps it on ALL day and with no creases!
Urban Decay Eye Liners in Ink, Sabbath and Black Market – I go through phases of roll up liner and ones that have to be sharpened.  I find that the Urban Decay liners hold their color all day and the sticks seem to last a while.  I would repurchase this brand of eye liner
Ulta Dual Eye Liner – I got this free in a gift with purchase set.  It was black on one end and brown on the other.  I pretty much would use this one when traveling since it was 2 products in one or when I was just going to be around the house since the color doesn’t stay on quite as well as other brands.

Lip Products
Chap Stick Total Hydration – this chap stick is ok – would try other products before repurchasing
Carmex Moisture Plus – feel the same about this one, it’s ok but would try others
Tarte LipSurgence in Glitzy – an obvious favorite – I’ve worn this shade for about 3 years now.  I love that it’s a stick, it’s not too sticky on the lips and generally wears for a while without needing reapplied.  The color also goes with the majority of what I wear so it’s a great lip product to leave in the purse
Laura Mercier Peony – this is the shade I wore on our wedding day and it makes me smile anytime I reach for this tube; it’s a pinker color but I still find it goes with most outfits.  It’s very smooth and long wearing.
Well, that’s it for the “empties” for this go-round.  What are your tried and true beauty products?
